Day X: What happened? And what will happen tonight?
As you might have noticed, there were no new blog entries this week. This is because life in Oslo more and more developed to one big day with some naps. This is also because there was less and less to report as Euroclub became so overcrowded that social stuff got reduced to a minimum, unfortunately!
In the past days, life in Oslo was mostly getting up around noon, watch a dress rehearsal, go back to town, meet people and be stuck in Euroclub to come out of it as pancakes.
The 2 big Euroclub-hits that didn’t qualify were played and sung again and again (Shalalie and Työlki Ellää), including the famous clap clap, and after semi 1 I got the 2nd highlight of Oslo for me: A kiss from half of Kuunkuiskaajat!
What more happened?
Monday evening had the German/Ukrainian party at Euroclub. You might think this is an odd constellation, but when you remember the fact that it’s all about Verka, it’s getting absolutely obvious! First on stage was Alyosha, singing a text version of Nocturne, followed by Lena who sang her hit singles Love Me and of course Satellite. And as it was the German/Ukrainian party, Dancing Lasha Tumbai couldn’t be left out, accompanied by a surprise “performance” of the Moldovans on Euroclub stage. Oh, and there was Safura handing over a horseshow to Lena as a present to wish her good luck. Check out the video!
On tuesday I had the chance to climb the Opera in daytime!
…and in the evening it was time for the first of the three shows – semifinal 1…
Many people were very disappointed about Finland not qualifying, but the fact that Belgium made it into the big final for the first time in 6 years was worth a celebration in the aftershow-bus!
And here’s my personal compensation (after the kiss) for Finland not qualifying!
Some more impressions from the last days:
Thursday evening = semifinal 2, and that meant 2 out of these 3 flags couldn’t be waved in joy of success afterwards…
during the show:
And finally a video from the magic moment of the night:
Needless to mention that we were quite shocked that Sweden didn’t make it, and of course sad (though not necessarily unexpected) that Netherlands didn’t qualify. Anyway, we were very happy for Cyprus of course.
So what will happen tonight?
Noone has a clue really. Everyone says it’s a very open race, and I see at least 15 possible contenders for victory in this final!
France probably will come last, UK not further up I’m afraid. Germany can go everywhere, as does Spain, just to mention my prediction for the Big 4.
Most likely to finish on top of the list is Turkey if you ask me, but I wouldn’t exclude a LOT of other songs either. It might even be Ukraine or Bosnia. If I would have a working crystal ball I could tell you better, but I dropped it in the arena after the shock that Sweden and Netherlands didn’t qualify.
Right. That should be the last blog entry from me before “the night”. Who f*ing knows really. I don’t. I just see, out of many possible winners, a song that is the most possible winner and at the moment that’s Turkey from me. So probably see ya in Istanbul next year. Or in Berlin?
Whatever. May the best song win.
